Every postgraduate student can apply for the bursaries regardless of their chosen subject and whether they’re studying full-time, part-time, online, or blended learning. Edinburgh Napier University Edinburgh Napier University is an institution of higher education located in Edinburgh, Scotland. Napier Technical College, the precursor to Napier University, was founded in 1964. The college took its name from the 16th-century Scottish philosopher and mathematician John Napier. The technical college was founded to become a college in 1992 by Lord Douglas-Hamilton and was later renamed Napier University. The school was changed to Edinburgh Napier University in 2009.
The university is located around three major Edinburgh campuses: Merchiston, Craiglockhart, and Sighthill. Edinburgh Napier University has more than 19,500 students, including those who study on campus in Scotland and those who have enrolled abroad in transnational programs and online.
In 2018, nearly 9500 students from both the international and EU students from more than 140 countries worldwide. Napier Technical College was established in 1964. It took its name after John Napier, who was born in 1550 in the tower of the medieval home in Merchiston Castle (the location of the University’s Merchiston campus). His statue is within the castle’s tower. Merchiston Castle today. The first ceremony for the new building was held on February 23, 1965. The college was changed to Napier College of Science and Technology in 1966.
In 1974, it was merged with Sighthill’s Edinburgh College of Commerce to make Napier College of Commerce and Technology the first Central Institution in 1985. Then, in 1986 the college was named Napier Polytechnic, and in the same year, it acquired the old Hydropathic hospital building located in Craiglockhart.
Furthermore, in June 1992, the school officially became Napier University. In a ceremony attended by over 700 staff and students, Lord James Douglas Hamilton and the then-Principal, William Turmeau, unveiled the new University sign in Merchiston. The sign was unveiled in 1994. Napier University obtained its Craighouse Campus.

The university was granted a fresh Faculty of Health Studies in 1996 due to a merger between the Scottish Borders College of Nursing and the Lothian College of Health Studies. It was transformed into Edinburgh Napier University in February 2009.
Edinburgh Napier has been given an award called the Queen’s Anniversary Award twice. Its most recent win was in 2015 when it was praised for its efforts in timber technology, sustainability in construction, and wood sciences. Edinburgh Napier University was previously presented with its Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2009 when the award was presented to ‘innovative housing construction for the benefit of the environment and improving living quality. The award was based on the contributions made by the university’s Building Performance Centre toward enhancing the sound insulation between adjacent homes.
Edinburgh Napier University offers computing, engineering nursing and midwifery business, science, timber engineering, and transportation studies. The school offers a variety of creative courses, such as graphic design, film and acting, music and publishing, and the design of products.

The winners of Postgraduate Solutions Study Bursaries will be awarded PS500, which will be paid towards the cost of costs. Be aware that the length of the bursary will be an unassigned bursary during the time of the application or award.

- The applications for postgraduate solutions study bursaries are available to students enrolled in a UK distance-learning postgraduate course.
- Every applicant must have applied and been offered a scholarship by the institution to be considered for the scholarship.
